1863 January 19 across the Rappahannock from Fredericksburg

[from the diary of Samuel S. Johnson,  1st Independent Massachusetts Light Battery]

                                Jan 19th

The past fortnight like the former, one  has
been very quiet.  On the 9th we changed our
camp about 42 miles, nothing else of any impor-
-tance has transpired.  We are busy building
a stable for our horses, as we expect to
spend the winter in this camp.  To day how
ever there is a rumor afloat of another
movement on Fredericsburg.  The weather
has been mild and pleasant.
