                                                U.S. Steamer "Currituck"

                                               January 15   1863

Sir
                                 I beg to inform you that I have retained
a small "Colt Revolver" of Five Chambers taken
from one of the Prisoners at the Capture of the
Steamer "Hampton" to replace one taken away
unententionally[sic] by the late Commander of this
Vessel.  I called a survey of my officers who
have Valued it at Fifteen Dollars
