1862 April 5 Chapel Hill, N.C.

[from the diary of Eliza Oswald Hill, refugee from Wilmington, N.C.]

Saturday--5th of April--We all kept quietly busy at home--Mr. & Mrs.
Greenhow went off to housekeeping this morn
-ing and Judge Persons family left in the after-
noon for the same purpose. We still have a very
pleasant family--Mrs. Wilson & daughter--Nrs. Reid & children
& Mrs. Downy & family also Miss Murder. They talk
of going to housekeeping too--But not immediately--
Mrs. Davis will remain here with us
