1862 April 27 New Bern, N.C.
[from the diary of Jesse Calvin Spaulding, Co. F, 25th Massachusetts]
Sunday
April 27
After coming off guard, John
Simonds, Geo Lowe, Uncle Sam and
I went out to church, and after going to
two or three places, went into the Methodist
after it was part through. Did not like the
preaching very well. It was a southern
preacher. Read some the rest of the day.
