1862 April 21

[from the diary of Samuel Johnson, of the 1st Massachusetts Independent Light Battery]


        April 21st

Today the horses of the 1st N. J. F. Co. 1st
N. Y. and our battery were disembarked,
and picketed ashore,   The men and horses
will go ashore in the morning.  the
rain has been pouring in torrents all
day rendering all around cold and
uncomfortable.
