1862 April 7

[from the diary of Samuel Johnson, 1st Massachusetts Independent Light Battery]

To day the Infantry continued their march
toward Warrenton. which is some twelve
miles distant. Nothing else of importance
transpired. During the evening we
received orders to be in readiness to
move at day light. It has been quite cool
and unpleasant and at times rains
quite hard.
