On guard again over the prisoners
from six till ten. They had a regular
fight in the guard house between a 25th man
and two 51st New Yorkers. Capt Messenger
took the New Yorkers off to jail. They have got
a fellow by the name of Cronan out with
the word "coward" on his back. Our fellow in
the guard house has a ball and chain
attached to his leg. I took a bottle of liquor
away from a prisoner last night.
