Thursday night, Feb. 5, 1863.
Another
snow storm — all day — No war news. No prospect of European
intervention. Reported that great dissatisfaction prevails among the
Yankee soldiers on the Mississippi, and that many are deserting. The
Yankees are cutting a canal so as to leave Vicksburg high and dry.
