1861 Oct[ober] 3

My Dear Richard
Just returned from
town with your letter by Lieut
Brown--Only time for a line
or two--
Mr Fox has kindly offered
to take you some things in his
wagon; We send you a rough
but warm Overcoat--a Comfort
and a basket of "Creature
Comforts" apples quinces Chesnuts
Pies &c &c. I also send some
things from Couz Eliz Richardson's
for Cous Willie; which please give
him--They are marked with his
name.

"Jager" is walking about; all
else well. Had a letter from
Walter. He has been in sever-
al slight engagements--

Tell Amos all are well
at his house--Kind regaards
for all the Warren Rifles.

Be sure to send back box-
es, Basketts &c. We are now en-
tirely out--Don't fail to
thank Mr Fox for his Kindness
