1862 August 9 near Cedar Mountain Battlefield

[from the diary of Lt. John Tyler of Letcher's Artillery, as written down at a somewhat later date]

Aug. 9th Sunday the
battery moved on at daylight.  I came on with
the wagons about 6 o’c, we crossed the Rapid-
-an, which was about a mile & a half off & when
near the Robinson river, a wheel on one of our
wagons broke down and we were kept until af-
-ter dark finding a new one & fixing it.
