1862 August 26 Staunton, Va.

[from the diary of Joseph A. Waddell, civilian employee of the Quartermaster Dept.]

Tuesday evening, Aug. 26, 1862
A report this evening, by telegraph, of fighting near
Warrenton (I suppose). Cars sent for last night to
go down, consequently no train went out this morn-
ing, and it is said none will come in this evening.
