White Oak Swamp Bridge

Private Thos Turner 3 Va Cav. New Kent
Troop is here and I have concluded to detain
him till I can hear from you.  I have written
to Col Goode about him.  Gen Hampton is here
without guides for that part of the Country in
front of my Picket line.  He wishes now to
procure a guide or two for a few days.  Turner
knows the country well.  I would be very much
obliged if you would permit him to remain
4 or 5 days.  If there is any objection to this please
let me know a letter sent to my camp at
the Ct House will come down speedily
