             Stuart has about
four thousand cavalry &
five guns as a Union man
here tells me--Averell has
Passed Philmont & is coming
up--Col Davis captured
three prisoners this morning
& thinks he has had two
men badly wounded--
       I am pushing the enemy
on the Upperville road
