[Thursday, Oct. 9, 1862
Left our bivouac
at Hagerstown early
this morning marched
over or through a fine
country 12 miles to
Clarksburg. passed through
& stopped in the woods
at the [?] hill where
we arrived about 2 O clock
Lay expecting to move
on until night when
we were ordered to remain
all night. went on invitation
to town to play some jet
the 28th band (played some
with them had some whiskey
if that could be considered an
equivalent went back
to camp about 9 oclock
Capt Lovejoy was tight
Clear warm
P.S. Had our knapsacks
carried. Hobb[?] & John behind
& Thad & Will played some however.
