1862 October 3 road from Louisville to Bardstown, Ky.

[from the diary of Captain William F. Hunter, Co. B, 97th Ohio]

     Oct. 3d ’62
Called into line be-
tween 3 & 4 o’clock A.M.
Very wet & nothing
to eat. Marched
about 8 or 9 miles,
& halted for the
night. Saw the
remains of two
bridges, burned by
order of Gen’l. Nel-
son, when an at-
tack upon Louisville
was apprehended.
