Sat 20. Finished it. & calls – McClellan has had
another series of great battles at Sharpsburg –

defeating rebels with great slaughter & driving
them out of Maryland – but we lost Harpers
Ferry for a time.  Penn & Maryland are safe
but we have not captured the whole rebel army
as was hoped –
