1862 June 4 Richmond, Va.

                       June 4th, 1862

Dear Major--
          The General desires me
to thank you, for you kind offers
There is nothing at present which he
needs. if there should be there is
no one upon whom he would
as soon call upon as yourself---
he has not been allowed to see
any of his friends. the Dr thought
it advisable to keep him very
quiet. he is to day very much
better. & will always be glad to
see you, with many thanks
