1862 May 13 Camp at mouth of East River, Va.

Thursday May 13, 1862
Remianed all day
in camp Played for
Guard mounting for
brigade also for
Parade
Considerable skirmishing
going on Capt McMullens
with one Howitzer
advanced some distance
up the river but was
obliged to withdraw
hastily
We have now been
three days without bread
recd this evening 2 crackers
apiece. Cloudy warm
commenceing to springle
rain
