1862 May 30 New York

No 6, State Street,
New York, May 30, 1862

Dear Sir,

I inclose, herewith, an account
against the US for the rent of a large Wharf Boat,
which was taken possession of at Paducah, on the 6th day
of September last, by direction, ( I suppose,) of Genl. Grant.
Will you do me the favor to ask the General
to authorize Capt. Turnley, A.Q. Master at Cairo,
(where this Boat is now in the service of the Subsistence
                      pay
Department,) to ^ the account referred to above.--With my
Kindest regards to the General, I am yours truly,
A.D. Steuart.
