Tuesday, May 27, 1862
Went this morning
with Capt Canby
& Lieut Hood to the top
of the mountain had a
very fine view had
Major Comley's Glass
rather too freely could
see the course of the
New River by the [?]
Practiced both before
and afternoon
Hear that Corinth has
been taken with 200000
prisoners Camp full of
rumors concerning the
affair. Wrote Letter to
Sarah Caldwell.
Took a Camp Kettle last
night from Comp G--rather
difficult enterprise
Clear beautiful day
Thoughts of this time a year ago haunt me.
