1862 December 9 near Nashville, Tenn.

     Dec. 9th, ’62.
Nothing unusual oc-
curred along our
part of the lines
last night, or this
A.M. Clear & warm.
Van Cleve, on the              
left, moved out to
forage & was at-
tacked; McCook, on                
the right, was at-
tacked in his
camp. Ordered to
be ready to “fall
in” at any moment;
reveille at 4, & rea-
dy to move at 6
A.M. to-morrow
morning, on a for-
aging expedition.
