1862 December 16 across the Rappahannock from Fredericksburg

[from the "War Journal" of George Hazen Dana,of the 32nd Massachusetts,  compiled by him at a later date from his letters and diaries"
                                                           Fredericks burg.

                                                Dec. 16th 1862. 5 A.M.
Thank Heaven I got here in time to join our
regiment and ‘go in.’          All officers safe except
poor Dearborn – killed -        I am again in charge
of a company ( A ).   Joe R. well -         We
have had a hard time –
