1862 December 21 "Hopedale," Albemarle County, Va.
[from the diary of Mary S. Boydon of "Hopedale," Albemarle County, Va.]
Monday 22nd Very busy in the morning fixing up a
box to send to Hanson by a young man who is going
to camp. We barely got it done by the time to start
to Cobham--After a rapid drive, just succeeded
in getting the box on board the cars--Fanny came
home today-much fatigued & nearly sick having
been up a great deal last night-she was
affected even to tears by the news of J. L. sickness
We still see no reason to fear any evil result of it--
Tuesday & Wednesday Very busy getting ready for
Christmas
