never been through an examination yet & he is so
opposed to it & recon I had best go as long as I can
and go through no examination; I am glad to
hear from my little Colt but had rather it was a
mare Tell Mother & Father to let him go by the
name of logan for I had heard from him be-
fore and had chosen the name of Logan for
him Well Clara you spolk of lending me 2 or 3
dollars and if you can do so I would be verry
glad I think it will come straight for I have
never missed a letter thet was directed to me since
I have been here I have had no money to have
my clothes washed & have had nothing washed until
yesterday a negro boy renched out my shirt & drawers
& I had no noney to pay him with.  I am owing
a fellow now in camp 1 dollar and promised
to pay him when I got camp &  and could not
do it and I fear he thinks hard of me But be
shure to send me Either Richmond money or
Confederate and as much as you can spare if it
is $5 I signed the pay roll for $80 if I ever get
it and I will pay you all I owe you, I suppose
you have hurd of the Battle down on Chicka-
harmoney Creek. There was some hard fighting
done there and we lost a great many men and
I suppos we killed a heep for we took 8 hundred
prisners and all their stores & 7 or 8 cannon
we have a great many wounded on our side
we are exspecting 2 or 3 battles around this place
