1862 January 22

[from the diary of Jesse Calvin Spaulding, Co. F, 25th Massachusetts, currently detailed to the Commissary Dept. on the steamer "Admiral"

Slept the same as last night
very well. Very windy and
high tide to day. They are getting the
different vessels over the bar slowly.
We still lie here in the same place.
Feel very well to day. Played checkers some
and read some.
