To day is the sabath it
is a fine day the sun
shone forth in all her
glory we are to have
preaching to day the
Chaplain sent out
an invitation to all
the virgineans that
wanted to come that
the pickets would let
them come and go the
Chaplain is preachin
from the last verse
of the 5 chap of Joshua
there is a good many
of the country peopple
here to day the Chaplain
give the virgineans fits
for not taking up armes
for the defence of the count[word runs off page]

Joshua 5:15 And the captain of the Lord's host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off they foot: for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

Hale will not write in his diary again until the 26th of November.
