1861 Nov[ember] 10 Camp near McLean's Ford

My Dear Creek

As Mr Sloan starts home today I will
write you a short letter by him. I wrote you two days ago
which you have no doubt recieved by this time, my health
still continues to be good. William is complaining a
little with a bad cold, he is getting better however and will be
all right in a few days. I wish you would see Seph Breazeale
and tell him to give Peter Summey's wife ten dollars of the
money he has with him, and charge it to Summey, the boys
look fine today those of them who have got their new uniforms
are cutting quite a swell, the sausage grinder does finely
I had some for Breakfast this morning.

everything is quiet here no signs of a fight whatever, we will
move from our present camp tomorrow, to a place on the left
of Centreville about two miles from here, I hope they will
send our Regiment to S. Carolina now that the enemy has dared
to land upon her soil. Our boys are all anxious to meet them
at Beaufort, and I feel confident if they would send Brigade their
there would not be a live Yankee in South Carolina twenty
hours, after we met, but I have no doubt but by this time
some of our brave men have met and repulsed. I would write
you more, but I have to superintend the building of a long line
of entrenchments,--and my presence is needed their. Kiss little Mag
for me and tell them all howdy for me your loving Husband
