This morning the Yankees pick-
ets fired on ours – no dam-
age done. Left camp on Val-
ley Mountain – marched 6 miles
left our baggage and went a
mile or so on Scout – [--]
for the night on a branch of
the Elk River. Read 10 chap. bible
