Daylight this morning found
us marching – eat our break-
fast on the bank of Elk
River 12 miles from our
former camp – Marched a
bout 3 miles further which
took us in a 1 ½ or 2 miles
of the enemy – 68 Yankee
prisoners passed us taken
near Cheat Mountain this
morning – Heard Cheat
Mountain [--] – also
read 6 chapters in the bible
