Dear Mother

I write
to let you know
that I am well & unhurt
up to this time, I write
this on the side of the
road.  I sent word to
Aunt Mary & asked
her to write to you
I have seen nothing of
either Willie or Tom
but would have heard
if they were hurt
None of our officers
are hurt
