1862 July 24 Camp near Jumping Branch
[from the diary of James Dinsmore Templeton of the 23rd Ohio]
This is for July 24
Guard mounting
after which I
wrote letters to
Abb Chidester, about
noon news that
Mrs Deed had prepared
a dinner for us
Several of the Lieuts
& we went out
had a good dinner
& pleasant time
Parade this evening no
Drill
Played in the evening
Col Hayes is to leave
us so it is said
Lieut Stevens gets
the two Howitzers
Hear again that Bands
will be discharged
mostly clear warm
