1861 July 18

[From the diary of Harrison B. Jones, 4th Sergeant, Co. H., 33rd Virginia Infantry

Today left Winchester
about 1 o'clock and marched
to reinforce Gen Beauregard
we had a hard march to
day; waded the Shenandoah
river at Berry Ferry and
continued marching until
9 o'clock at night, then
stoped at Paris in Va
