[1861 December 6]

[from the diary of Wesley Hammond of the Dixie Greys, Co. E of the 42nd Virginia]

Leave Marlin Bottom,
on Greenbrier, (March 4 miles to-
wards Millboro. We bid our cabin
and the place where we expected
to take up winter quarters a final
adieu. Roads were very muddy, but
the day beautiful for the time of year.
