Police duty to day but had nothing to do, as
there were six prisoners who did all the

all on one field marching in different
directions. Came back to dinner about one
Pea soup again. This afternoon read
some, cleaned up, and practised the
bayonet exercise. This evening have been
singing some and reading some
Phineas is on guard tonight. He is a
noble fellow and, I wish he was a
Christian. May the Lord make him one
very soon, even now O Lord send thy Spirit
down and sanctify his heart. I cannot
help thinking also of my dear father
also unconverted. O Lord cause him to come
to Thee and cast him not off. Gibbs also
and Whitney my dear brothers, and grant
that Mother and Daniel may continue
in the way of life, and their faith be
increased.
