[from the diary of Jesse Calvin Spaulding of Co. F, 25th Massachusetts]

It was cloudy and damp in
the forenoon but pleasant in the after-
noon. I cleaned up my things and
also went off a little ways with a lot
of others to get some brush to cover the
kitchen fire=place, Saw Ed Brown this
afternoon. Got "Fowler on Memory" of the
chaplain to read. Read it pretty much
all the evening. Enjoyed it much.
