Dear Richard
Mr Scroggins goes down in the mor-
ning; and I intended to have sent
you down a bag of vegetables &c by
him: but find on my arrival home
tonight, after a long and fatigue-
ing ride--that your Ma has not
had it attended to--Expecting me
home in time to do it--
Perhaps they will be sent in a
day or two--Mr S will take you a
small roll however, as a greeting
from home, on your return from pickett--
What do you most need? Have
you gloves? Don't you want Gum Shoes?
How is your Flannel? Have you re
ceived all the articles sent you of
which I have written?
Take good care of your health--
and if you get sick, be sure to
come immediately home; and on no ac
count to the hospitals--
Take care of your Teeth, Skin Mor-
als Mind Manners--Learn something
[page 2]
Good and useful every day.
We hope you will be up at least
by Christmas--Charley is improving
slowly--Henry has gone to Clarke
I wrote to Amos about his wife's
illness, yesterday--She is no better today.
The family and friends generally
well "Cons Mount" I regret to say does
not improve--He his Ma & sister are
here--His case is a very peculiar
one. It puzzles the doctors greatly.
Write frequently & fully.
Have you any thing to read? I send
you some old papers.
Great haste
Truly Your Affectionate
Th. B. Buck
