Dear Miss Hetty
father received your
letter with the enclosure for your
Mother, which shall be sent to
Fort Monroe by the first opportu
-nity, but I am afraid tat such
long letters do not go farther than
that place; and I think that
shorter letters will stand a great-
er chance of being forwarded.
We have received some letters
from Maryland, but not of
very recent date. Some were
brought over by Mr. James L.
Clarke, who is now in Rich
mond.
Father and the rest of the family
beg to be kindly remembered to your-
self and Miss Jinnie[sic], and if I
can be of any service to either
of you, I beg that you will
call upon my services.
With grt Respect
Yrs Truly
