1861 November 8 Camp Curtin, Pennsylvania

Camp Curtin
Nov 8th 1861
Dear Ant
I received your
letter yesterday morning
I am very sorry that you
dident get my letter sooner
I have a light blue overcoat
with a cape over the shoulders.
We have good tents with a
board floar there is six of
us in one tent, the tents is
about eaight feet squear and
when we lay down we lay
our blankets around us, and
so i dont think enny of them
can find fault--and we have
plenty to eat, we drill six
hours a day.  I was out to
church last sunday morning
and there was a fair damsel

asked me if i would
come and take dinner with
her, and in the afternoon
we went to sunday school,
and in the evening we went
to church. There was too
reigments left here this weak
for the seat of war, and
our ridgment will be the
next one to leave but Col
Hartrunnef says that he will
not leave till his ridgment
is full, and if we go enny
fothe then Washington i will
be home a christmas if it
dont cost to much, that is
if i can get a furlow.
And if father would a
treated me right i would
not went to war, and
when i left home i had
but one cent in my
pocket he says he will giv

send me monney, that
is if i will pay him
back.  I wrote home
the second weak we came
up here and i dident get
no answer so i wrote
about three weak a go for
some monney and they sent
three dollers to come home
So i must bring my letter
to a close
