Mulberry Pt February 24th 1862
My dear Neph
Yours of the 16th reached me some
days ago--It would not be prudent for you
and Frank to visit me at this time--I think
every one who can should remain at home. The
R. roads have as much as they can do, transporting
troops &c for the Army...I am sorry to hear that
the sheep are sick-I am sure Mr. Sucra will do all
that a man can do to save them--Little Maggie's name
was not mentioned in the last letter I received from home.
Tell Fent I hope to get him some tacks, before h
has a chance to ask Ola "Diccon" for them---
We have had so much wet weather that
we have done but little on the new battery----So
soon as I can have you and Frank with me I will
write you, and send you the money to pay your way.
[letter will continue on Wednesday the 26th]
