1861 June 27

I was prevented from conclu-
ding my letter last night
by taps, and this morning I
hasten to bring it to a close.
The Picket last night
captured five prisoners

[page 8]
three Dutchmen, a Negro man,
and a boy. Their case
has not yet been examined,
and I am not aware of the
Suspicion which caused
their arrest. There is
nothing new to day. The
weather is dry, and sultry,
and we are very much
in need of a refreshing
rain.

Continuation of the letter of John Warwick Daniel
MSS 158
